Acadia on Main is an Outdoor & Lifestyle Retail Store with Fresh, Eco- Conscious Perspective in Downtown Mount Kisco
Acadia on Main opened its doors in 2008 with a mission of having the best available outdoor & lifestyle clothing, footwear and gear for the way people live and play, focusing on brands that share its philosophy of fun, sustainability and eco-responsibility.
"We are the destination for all-around outdoor enthusiasts who have a lust for life and enjoy a wide variety of activities, whether it's yoga, running, hiking, camping or hitting the beach to play in the waves," said owner Dan Sims. "We provide high-function, multi-purpose clothing and gear that serves you when you're out hitting the trail or when you're just cozying up at the neighborhood coffee shop."
Top brand names for clothing include Patagonia, The North Face, Prana, Arcteryx, Smartwool, Icebreaker, Gore, Nau, Horny Toad, Billabong, Beyond Yoga, 15 Love, Anue, Zobha and Sugoi. Footwear brands include Merrell, Keen, Sorel, Patagonia, The North Face, Olukai, Le Chameau, Salomon, Asolo, Lowa, Birkenstock, Vibram FiveFingers, and Reef. This winter, Acadia on Main is proud to announce its new travel section, featuring an extensive assortment of Lonely Travel guidebooks.
Acadia on Main store is the latest venture for Dan Sims, who for the past 20 years has traveled the world as the head of a successful outdoor sports sales agency. His extensive sports and travel experience informs his selection of innovative and top quality products for the store. "One of my greatest passions is discovering the freshest, most exciting brands in this industry and turning people on to them," he said. "These brands are not only leading the charge of designing fantastic products, they are pushing the industry toward the greater use of organic and sustainable fibers and are manufacturing their products with environmental responsibility."
"My goal is to bring under one roof the brands that share a love for the outdoors and are doing everything they can to preserve it," said Dan. "These are brands that apply the wisdom of sustainability to create the best products while extracting the least amount of earth's precious capital." Dan is referring to the growing trend among sports and outdoor companies that are discovering new fabrics made from sustainable fibers (such as milk, merino, bamboo, and coconut, to name a few) that are completely renewable and have a minimum impact on the environment, yet offer top-class performance and durability. For instance, Patagonia's cotton apparel is made from organically grown cotton, its fleece is produced from recycled soda (PET) bottles, and many of Patagonia's shoes are made with scraps off the cutting room floor.
Dan, his wife Jane, and their two children live in Katonah. "We live and breathe all of the activities that the store represents," says Jane, a freelance health writer who loves to spend time outdoors, either running, bicycling, or hiking. "We know our customers because we are our customers!"
